The famous redbrick colonial style Chicago house featured in the 1990's Home Alone films starring Macaulay Culkin, was sold for nearly $1 million less than the asking price.
The House belonged to John and Cynthia Abendshien, who had owned it since the late 80s and was featured extensively in the blockbuster movies where Macaulay Culkin, plays an 8 year old who fends off bungling burglars, The wet Bandits after being accidentally left behind when his family heads off on a Christmas holiday.
The script was written by the late John Hughes (The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off), Chris Columbus the director. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern played the hapless interlopers who lose a battle of wits with young Kevin McCallister.
During the six-month shoot, the couple John & Cynthia camped out in the four-room master suite while the rest of the 4,250 sq ft property was used for filming.

When asked about his reaction to the news this is what Macaulay Culkin had to say .....
