
In this day & age it is far too easy to just go grab some over the counter pills for the most common of illness, although we are all aware of the fact taking too many antibiotics and drugs weaken the immune system not to mention the side affects they can cause.
Yet before these multi billion pound drug companies came about our ancestors had natural home made remedies that were just as good (with no side affects) at curing these illnesses.
Though I dont believe in the "old wives tale" of to cure warts or verrucas ..you have to "steal a piece of steak, rub it on the infected area and then bury it in the garden" as my Step dad tells me, it is a fact that warts are caused by a deficiency of vitamins & minerals amongst being highly contentious in the body.
But facts like natural products such as Lemons,Yogurt, Honey & Cinnamon can cure quiet a lot of today's diseases and illnesses... So here are some more:
Ginger:
Not only adds great taste to a lot of recipes but Ginger has been found to relieve nausea, dizziness, gas,stomach upset, heartburn, flatulence and diarrhea. In studies it has shown to be a successful natural remedy for stomach flu and even morning sickness up to 75 percent of the time.
Make ginger tea at home by pouring one cup of boiling water over 2 tablespoons of freshly grated ginger and let it steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain and drink up.Make sure you use real ginger root otherwise you wont get the benefit.
Oranges:
When the common cold or other minor ailments strike you down your first line of defense will be in your own home.Vitamin C, plenty of oranges, juice, strawberries and rest.
Honey:

a Teaspoon of honey can help calm scratchy throats and dry coughs by coating the throat and thinning the mucus. can also be used as a natural antibacterial treatment on minor cuts and scrapes.And especially for you party hard adults out there Most hangovers will resolve themselves in about 24 hours, but there is some evidence that the fructose in honey can speed things up.By spreading a few tablespoons of honey on toast helps your body metabolize alcohol faster.Never give Honey to a babe under the age of 1
Salt:
Salt can do more than spice up a bland dinner. Salt can also help take the itch out of bug bites, calm sore throats and relieve sinus congestion from colds or allergies.
Itchy insect bites are soothed in a pinch with salt: Mix salt and water to form a paste and apply to the bite. Add a little more water to that mixture and use it as a multi purpose solution.
One of the simplest comforts for a minor sore throat is gargling with warm saltwater. A similar saltwater concoction also works for minor sinus stuffiness. Saline nasal drops ease sinus congestion in infants, kids and adults.
Adults can also try clearing congestion with salt and a pot. Mix 1/2 cup warm water with 1/2 teaspoon salt. Using a pot, pour the mixture into one nostril. Let it flow out the other and repeat in the opposite nostril.
Ice:
Ice ice baby can treat minor sprains and bruises. Immediately applying a cold compress to an Injury reduces swelling, bleeding and pain by reducing blood flow to the injury and slowing down the pain signals between nerve endings and the brain.
Apply a cold compress to the area for 20 minutes every 2 hours. Never put ice directly on skin, always wrap it in a damp towel or cloth and then apply.
cayenne pepper:
Fantastic for cold sore & canker sores because Cayenne contains capsaicin, a constituent that temporarily desensitizes the nerves that cause pain.
Sage:
Sage is another option. Used most often to spice up turkey stuffing, this herb can be used to calm an angry canker. Simply add 3 teaspoons sage leaves to 1 pint boiling water. Steep, covered, for 15 minutes. Rinse your mouth with the liquid several times a day. You can also rub sage leaves into a powder and apply them directly to your sore.
Green Tea:
Green tea helps keep your breath fresh because it has antibacterial compounds that fight the germs in your mouth. Up the ante by using a cinnamon stick to stir your tea.Also raw, crunchy fruits and vegetables. Celery, carrots and apples are great at banishing bad breath.
Sugar:
Believe it or not can help cure insomnia, Sugary foods eaten about 30 minutes before bedtime can actually act as a sedative, and you can wake up without the morning fuzziness that accompanies synthetic sleeping pills.
Blueberries & Cranberries:
Blueberries and cranberries are from the same plant family and seem to have the same bacteria inhibiting properties by sprinkling a handful of these flavorful berries over your morning cereal can help cure UTI ( urinary tract infections).
Vinegar:
An antibacterial cleaner but also very good for dry hair Vinegar is a great conditioner and can improve cleanliness and shine. Just add 1 tablespoon vinegar to your hair as you rinse it.Good for treating dandruff too.
