Carlos Cuellar says Sunderland fans can expect to see a typically hard-working side this season.
The Spanish defender became Martin O'Neill's first summer signing yesterday having previously worked with the Sunderland boss at Aston Villa.
Cuellar, 30, has penned a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light and knows all about O'Neill's style of play and penchant for hard work.
"When he signed at Sunderland, everyone knew to be careful with them," said Cuellar, who made more than 100 appearances during his time at Villa Park.
"You know he is going to have the players running a lot in games and pressing always.
"Martin O'Neill's teams work very hard; they are very competitive and never lose easily."
Cuellar signed up with just over a week to go until the squad return to the Academy of Light for pre-season training.
And the former Rangers man can't wait to get going and link up with faces old and new ahead of the big kick-off at Arsenal on August 18.
"When you move to another club and you have previously worked with people there, it makes it very easy and gives you confidence," he added.
"I prefer to start training straight away and meet everyone. That way I can get used to the way we work and concentrate on the season ahead."
